What is Community Support & Participation?
Community support and participation helps NDIS participants engage in social, recreational, educational, and community activities. A qualified support worker accompanies you to activities, events, and outings — providing the confidence, assistance, and encouragement you need to participate fully.
At Lift & Live, we match you with a support worker who shares your interests or has experience in your chosen activities. Whether you want to join a local sporting club, attend a TAFE course, volunteer in your community, or simply get out of the house more regularly — our community support team makes it possible.
We provide community support services across Western Sydney (Penrith, Blacktown, Parramatta, Liverpool, Fairfield) and the Central Coast (Gosford, Wyong, Terrigal, The Entrance and surrounds).

Why Community Support Matters
Social connection is one of the strongest predictors of wellbeing for people living with disability. Regular community participation reduces isolation, builds confidence, and creates opportunities for friendships and meaningful relationships. The NDIS recognises this — which is why community support is a funded category available to eligible participants.
At Lift & Live, we don't just transport you to an activity and wait. Our community support workers actively participate alongside you — helping you engage, make connections, and build skills that increase your independence over time. Travel training, for example, helps participants learn to use public transport independently, reducing the need for support in the long run.
We believe every person living with disability deserves to be part of their community — not just watching from the sidelines. Our community support team covers all of Western Sydney and the Central Coast, including Penrith, Blacktown, Parramatta, Liverpool, Fairfield, Mt Druitt, Windsor, Gosford, Wyong, Tuggerah, Terrigal, The Entrance and surrounding areas.

Frequently Asked Questions — Community Support
Do I need to have a specific activity in mind to get started?
Not at all. We can help you identify activities that match your interests, abilities, and goals. Many participants start with a general "getting out more" goal and discover activities they love along the way.
Can my support worker drive me to activities?
Yes. Many of our community support workers have their own vehicles and can transport you to and from activities as part of your support shift. Transport costs may be claimable under your NDIS plan.
What if I want to try something but feel nervous?
That is completely normal — and exactly why we are there. Your support worker goes with you, helps you settle in, and supports you to engage at your own pace. We never push, only encourage.
Is community support available on weekends?
Yes. Many community activities happen on weekends, so we offer weekend community support shifts. Evening and public holiday support is also available based on your plan and schedule.
